We Can CommuniKate is a Somerset & Dorset (including Bristol and Bath) based, dynamic, family-centred, independent Speech and Language Therapy Practice, working with children and their families to support them to reach their communication potential.

We Can CommuniKate was founded by Kate Burgess. a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with over 10 years of experience working in the NHS for Evelina London. She has experience of working with children aged up to 11 years of age, with a range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) including language impairments or delays, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), Autism, Speech sound delays and disorders including Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia (DVD), Down Syndrome, Learning Disabilities and stammering. Kate is trained in a range of intervention approaches, including Lidcombe for children who stammer, Attention Autism, Hanen More Than Words, The Nuffield Dyspraxia Programme and ELKLAN training packages.

Kate has worked with a range of families and is passionate about empowering parents and carers to be able to support their childs communication skills at home, through everyday interactions, play and - where necessary - individualised therapy activities. Kate's aim is that every parent/carer feels a part of the therapy process and an equal partner in finding the best fit for your family, guided by her expertise when required.

Kate is available for face-to-face assessment and therapy in your home or your child's nursery or school (following all Covid-19 safety guidelines). She also regularly visits North Devon and has a number of clients in the area. Online or Phone Consultations are available wherever you are, with a flexible service to suit a potential time difference.

Kate is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (registration number SL28289) and holds an enhanced DBS check.
